A crossroads of contemporary art that questions the boundary between humans and AI
RESTは、JR大阪駅（梅田）から徒歩圏内、フリーペーパー専門店「はっち」内に、2025年6月、日本初となるAIアート専門の常設ギャラリーとしてオープンしました。生成AIを用いて制作されたアート作品を中心に展示するほか、メタバース空間で展開されるインタラクティブなアートや、NFT、プロンプトアート、アルゴリズミック・アートなど、広義のデジタルアートも積極的に紹介していきます。
RESTは「AIと人間の境界を問い直す現代アートの交差点」として「創造とは誰のものか、作品とは何をもって成立するのか」といった根源的な問いに向き合う批評的な空間です。ここでは、AIとの協働によって生まれる作品を単なるツールの成果としてではなく「人間の想像力や意識と、どこで接続し、どこで乖離するのかを可視化する実験」と捉えています。
私たちは、鑑賞者との対話を通じて、アートの定義や作家性の概念、そして「誰が／何が創造しているのか」という視点を更新していくことを目指しています。リアルスペースでの展示と並行して、オンライン／メタバース上での展開も積極的に行い、ポスト・インターネット時代における「アートと場所性」、さらには「主体性の所在」そのものを再考していきます。
In June 2025, REST opened as Japan’s first permanent gallery dedicated to AI-generated art. Located within Hatch, a small cultural space in Osaka dedicated to zines, local publications, free publications, and independent media, REST is just a short walk from JR Osaka Station and Umeda.The gallery primarily features artworks created with generative AI, while also introducing a broader spectrum of digital art, including interactive works developed in metaverse spaces, NFTs, prompt-based art, and algorithmic art.
REST positions itself as a critical space at the intersection of contemporary art and the evolving boundary between humans and artificial intelligence. Rather than treating AI simply as a tool, we explore how works produced through human-AI collaboration reveal points of connection and disconnection between human imagination, intention, and machine logic.
AIアートギャラリーRESTでは、グループ展『花と雨のあいだで』を6月3日〜6月30日で開催します。本展には、国内外95名のAIアーティスト／クリエイターが参加。「花」と「雨」をモチーフに、移ろいゆく時間や曖昧な心の状態、美しさと儚さが重なり合う瞬間を、それぞれの感性で表現します。
雨に濡れる花は、咲いているのか、散りかけているのか。そこには、はじまりと終わり、静けさと揺らぎ、記憶と感情が同時に宿っています。AIという新しい表現手法から生まれた、94通りの「花と雨のあいだ」。雨の季節に静かに咲く、多様なAIアートの世界をぜひご覧ください。
AI Art Gallery REST is pleased to present the group exhibition Between Flowers and Rain, held from June 3 to June 30.
This exhibition brings together 95 AI artists and creators from Japan and abroad. Inspired by the motifs of “flowers” and “rain,” each artist expresses, through their own sensibility, moments where passing time, ambiguous states of mind, beauty, and fragility quietly overlap.
Is a flower in the rain still blooming, or already beginning to fall?
Within that image coexist beginnings and endings, stillness and movement, memory and emotion.
Born from AI as a new form of artistic expression, these 94 interpretations of Between Flowers and Rain invite viewers into a diverse world of AI art, blooming quietly in the rainy season.
＃AI美人画
RESTでは、日本の美意識が明治以降どのように変化してきたのかを検証するプロジェクトとして「＃AI美人画」という江戸時代の浮世絵師たちが描いた美人画を再解釈する試みを行っています。
浮世絵師の画風や構図を参照しつつ、プロンプトを通じて「現代風の美人像（メイク、ファッション、体型、所作など）」をAIに指示。浮世絵的手法と21世紀の美的価値観が交差する“架空のモデル写真”を生成し、美の基準がどのように時代と共にに変容してきたのかを可視化・考察。SNSで公開、常設展示を行い、「誰が美を定義するのか」「私たちはどのように視覚文化を受け継いできたのか」という問いを投げかけています。
At REST, we are conducting a critical project titled #AIBijinga, which reinterprets the traditional bijinga—images of beautiful women—as painted by ukiyo-e masters of the Edo period, in order to examine how Japanese aesthetics have shifted since the Meiji era.
By referencing the composition and stylistic elements of classic ukiyo-e, and using carefully constructed prompts, we instruct AI to generate contemporary representations of beauty—reflected in makeup, fashion, body types, gestures, and more. These resulting “fictional model photographs” represent a fusion between Edo-period visual conventions and 21st-century aesthetic values, making visible the evolving criteria of beauty across time.
These works are shared via social media and exhibited in our permanent space, inviting viewers to reflect on critical questions: Who defines beauty? And how have we inherited and reshaped visual culture through generations?

住所・営業時間/ADDRESS・OPENING HOURS
RESTは大阪駅（梅田駅）から徒歩15分圏内、阪急、地下鉄中津駅から徒歩3分の場所にあります。営業時間は通常「平日の水曜日から金曜日の夜7時から夜10時まで」と限定的ですが、連絡いただけたら柔軟に対応できます。
REST is located within a 15-minute walk from Osaka Station (Umeda) and just a 3-minute walk from Hankyu and Subway Nakatsu Station.
Our regular opening hours are Wednesday to Friday, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We may also accommodate visits outside these hours by appointment, so please contact us in advance.
